Focusing on the POSITIVE! 2020-21 is a New School Year...
Help me give my students the supplies they will need to be successful next year. I want to buy inspirational composition books for them to use in class.
I teach 160 9th, 10th and 11th-grade students at an incredible high school in southern Louisiana. There is a very diverse socioeconomic/cultural population at our school. Seventy-five percent of our student population qualifies for the free/reduced-price lunch program.
Our district is implementing a new teaching resource next year and I will need supplies to correctly implement it.
The new resources are heavily project based (WOO HOO!), so I need supplies. Data will be collected in groups during the school year to study how real data is used in mathematical concepts.
My Project
I worry students won't be able to afford a key supply needed to successfully complete our curriculum next year. They will be required to work in groups and keep track of data collected as a class. The real life data they collect will be used to teach math in the real world.
I have requested composition books with clever sayings and inspirational quotes on the covers.
My hope is to give them a bit of fun next year while teaching math using the new resources we are being given. The post-it notes with happy sayings are for me to connect with them and establish good relationships.
