My students are high energy kids who love to talk, discuss, and participate in hands on activities. At times, it can be hard for them to sit comfortably in a chair all day while remaining engaged and focused. When it comes time for a brain break, my class quickly leads a game of "Ship Captain," where they are found running around, playing, and laughing together. It is quite the scene to watch! At times, I find my students sitting or laying on the floor instead of their desks. I want to provide my students with options for flexible seating to allow them choices on how they want to approach their learning for that day.
I would like to provide my students with many options of seating in our classroom. Right now, we have 20 chairs and 4 yoga balls. By giving more options of seating, like stools, floor cushions, and more yoga balls, students will make a choice on how they will learn for the day.
Flexible seating will help students remain engaged throughout the school day.
Student centered learning is important, and picking out a place to sit can make all the difference. Students often complain of sitting in a chair all day, so seating options will provide them with choices and motivate them to learn.
