My students need flexible seating options for focusing around the room.

My first graders come to school each day full of potential and curiosity. We focus on building our skills, academic and social-emotional, in a welcoming, stable classroom environment.
Effectively reaching the diverse learners in this urban Baltimore City classroom requires a variety of engaging tools and materials to make learning accessible and meaningful for each student.
School is a safe place, a welcoming place, and an engaging place; it is also an important place where the foundational skills--academic and social-emotional--that students will build on through their lives are developed. I appreciate your considering supporting this project as I strive to support each student every day.
With active first graders, it is important to involve movement through the day, and also to support focused, quiet work at appropriate times.
These tools will help support students in building focus and engagement through the different learning activities of each day.
These floor seats will help promote focus during whole-group lessons at the rug for students who are more physically active. They will also provide a special seating option for students while partner reading. The privacy shields can help block out distractions while students are working independently. Each of these tools also promotes students' self-regulation, as they can help decide individually when and whether these tools are needed.
