My students need IPads with headphones and challenge games as well as flexible seating choices for stations so they can become strong, independent learners in math and reading!
As a teacher of a small rural school, I am happy and excited each day to teach reading and math interventions with at risk students. We work hard on developing our skills so that we not only learn the core standards of education, but develop a love and passion for reading and learn fun strategies to help with our math skills. Many of our students receive free/reduced lunch and also receive "back pack buddies" which provide them with food and snacks for the weekend. Therefore, some students can not afford technology and internet at home and are not exposed outside of school. Our classroom currently has one old iPad which the kids share, and is no longer able to update our educational apps. My students will use the flexible seating chairs to comfortably sit and work on their math and reading skills independently while using the new iPads, so that I can pull the children back with me for one-on-one learning time.
My Project
The iPad stations that I am asking for would help us to create interactive learning centers for our students to develop their literacy and math skills, while also exposing them to technology that is lacking in our classrooms and our community.
Not only will our students work on their reading and math skills, their ability to work independently will grow, their confidence in school will get stronger and the confidence in themselves will grow too!
We are also excited to work on our new Math and Reading apps that encourage fun while learning, and to download books for the kids so that they can enjoy the gift of reading! The kids get so excited to use the iPads that they forget they are even learning! Thanks to all of you that help support us and realize how important education is.
