We are a Pre-K-1 Title I elementary school in a low-income area. Approximately half of the children in our school receive free or reduced-cost breakfast and lunch at school. Despite many of their difficulties at home, they are eager to come to school and learn every day!
My goal is to keep my students focused and as excited about learning all throughout the school year as they were the very first day.
I am always looking to provide students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. They are enthusiastic learners, and with our love and support, they will rise above their challenges and become productive and contributing citizens!
My Project
We are looking to increase student engagement and give our students tools to help them focus. A sensory path, we can provide students a series of coordinated movements to decrease unwanted behaviors while increasing cognition. We are seeking floor and wall decals for a sensory path.
The sensory path will help children focus, regain composure and return to their learning environment in a positive way.
Many students with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, and exposure to trauma, experience sensory issues.
A student who has sensory processing issues has difficulty with attention and the ability to regulate their bodies and emotions. It is difficult to learn when you have the need to move, jump, and bounce. This sensory path will help kids to regulate their bodies and emotions.
These vivid and engaging visuals provide physical input from jumping, hopping, pushing and motor planning that stimulates key parts of the brain and the body to help students meet sensory and movement thresholds and learn self regulation strategies.
