Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are inquisitive, caring, and hard-working. Many come to school with difficult backgrounds and obstacles in their lives, which can be very challenging to leave at the door.
100% of the students in my school receive free breakfast and lunch.
19% are English Language Learners, and 16% are students with disabilities.
When my students enter the classroom each day, my hope is for them to feel completely comfortable and safe. I want to provide a supportive and nurturing environment, which is conducive to learning for every student. I strive to equip them with the tools to always make positive choices throughout every obstacle they face both now and in the future, and to always appreciate the importance of education.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting would be put to great use immediately in our classroom. Every item will help to support all of the various learning styles within my classroom.
Each of my students greatly appreciates space that is as free of distraction as possible.
Usually I allow them to spread out to different spaces around the room if they request more personal space, however privacy partitions will provide them with more of a private space without necessarily having to pick up and move to a new location. Headphones will help to provide a quieter environment while students are utilizing the classroom Chromebooks, however also allowing those who are on the computers to keep the volume at an appropriate level for their task.
Wobble seats will help my more active learners to move around just enough while sitting is expected, and dry erase markers are used on an everyday basis to help support student learning. The markers are used so often that I am always in need of more. When we run low, not every student is able to utilize his or her personal whiteboard.
