My Students

My students are full of life and full of questions! I teach K-5 elementary music at a rural Title I school in north Georgia. We are a small community rooted in the heart of Bartow County.

My Wildcats love to learn and have fun doing it!

My students love to create their own music, play singing games, play instruments, and dance. I believe that music is crucial to the development of a well-rounded member of society. Music supports and connects every other subject we teach. I believe that music can make a HUGE difference in the life of our children and would love to see my Wildcats have the opportunity to learn and experience all they can in elementary music. Many of my students will not be able to afford music lessons or band instruments in their future school career. I believe it is my job to root and ground them in their music education NOW!

My Project

These mallets will allow my students to continue using our Orff xylophones. They are the best to pair with our Sonor brand Orff xylophones. The yarn-wrapped mallets create a warm, beautiful tone on the bass xylophones that allow my students to make quality sounds in their performances and classroom lessons.

My students will use these mallets to improvise music to children's books and poems, supporting literacy and comprehension.

They will use them to compose their own music and continue their learning of the treble staff. Improvisation and composition allow students a safe way to express themselves. These mallets will also help us to continue to foster community and teamwork through playing TOGETHER, listening to others and their instrumental parts, and compromising with classmates when composing together.
