Flying High With Drones

My Students

This is our first year of Exploring Computer Science of any kind and we are so excited and have already been learning a lot in the 1st full semester. My students are eager to learn, creative, and are loving the hands-on activities thus far. My students come to my class from a variety of backgrounds. I work to give all my students the skills for career readiness and to support subgroups in our building as they explore their interests in hands-on learning. I would really like to do a unit in our programming curriculum about Drones.

My Project

Students will get hands-on experience with Drones for the first time. Drones are used for many things and are the way of the future. Things like capturing live events, surveying dangerous areas, delivering small items, shooting great commercials or movies. and even helping firefighters find hot spots. Students will learn how to use these drones safely and the "do's and don'ts" while flying Drones.

Students will begin by learning how to fly the Drone safely and effectively.

Students will use Scratch to program and upload to the Drones to fly through an obstacle course. The students will learn through designing the course with Scratch, more problem-solving skills and have fun.
