My Students

My students are extremely special because they are the future of the world.

They come from very diverse backgrounds. Our classroom is a place for them to challenge themselves and safely take risks.

The students in my 2nd grade class come to school every day ready to learn new things and get super excited when they are allowed to create things on their own and to use technology. They are working hard to challenge themselves and to be college and career ready and are very eager to learn.

My Project

Our grade is presently involved in designing, creating, and constructing a pollinator garden on campus. I want to incorporate this field trip to Magic Wings to actively engage the students in how pollinators live. This trip will provide the students with the schema needed to properly understand why a garden of this type is necessary for the survival of not only pollinators, but for the survival of crops.

It is not often that children living in the inner city come in contact with pollinators in a manner such as this.

That is why I feel that this is a beneficial experience for them.
