Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our elementary school is a very dynamic and diverse group of students who are excited to learn every day. We challenge our students every morning to do their very best. As a school community, academic success is the ladder for our students to climb towards their unlimited potential.

Our elementary school is a Title I school with many students who are very low in socioeconomic status including over 90% receiving free or reduced-price lunch at school.

Although in an impoverished area of the city, our school aims to be a very tight-knit community providing a safe and secure learning environment for our students to thrive in. Many of our students speak languages other than English at home so our staff strives to provide adequate opportunities for English language development. The teachers and students of our school are dedicated to common goals of high academic achievement, personal responsibility, and becoming positive role models for our peers.

My Project

Please consider donating to my classroom to purchase two programmable drones through the use of robotic and computer languages. Drones are becoming ever-present in agriculture, engineering, aeronautics, rocket science, and more. NASA even landed the first drone ever on Mars and states that drones will become a useful scientific tool to explore other worlds.

Coding and programming are becoming the gateway to an exciting world of new innovations, careers, and opportunities and I would like to expose my students to these amazing platforms early on.

There is nothing like watching a flying drone fly a flight path that a student had coded into their own computer. The joy given by these small flying machines can not be beaten.

The next generation of students needs to be prepared for a world that is dynamic, ever-changing, and always evolving. Being able to learn and grow with new and exciting platforms like Drones will give them advantages in the 21st century. Please consider donating to our classroom full of future engineers today.
