My students all come from low-income households and our school is their place to interact with others their age. It is also where they get to engage with other adults, since most have families where their parents are either working almost all day or busy caring for the others in their household. Our school is small and resources for our students are not easily accessible or attainable. Despite that, our preschoolers are always eager to learn and come to school with smiles on their sweet faces. They love coming into our classroom and being who they want to be, without any judgement. They're encouraged to use their imaginations and be as creative as they want to be. We allow them to become who they want to become as they begin their journey to kindergarten and towards their future.
Although funds at our school are not usually available or are very scarce, we do the best that we can with what we have and our children are always eager and excited to be at school.
We are like their second family and there is nothing better than seeing my children's smiling faces when we begin our day!
I was extremely excited when our first butterfly project was funded because I knew that watching the butterfly life cycle in person would be something they would never forget. As I am preparing for our butterfly unit my eyes begin to water. Every single butterfly book that I had was ruined due to water getting into the bins of where they were stored. I want to give my children the greatest butterfly experience they could possibly have and I can't do that without the proper resources.
Without books, how can I properly teach my children about butterflies and how different and alike they can be?
The books I am requesting will help enrich our unit by providing my children with information and images all about butterflies. The figurines will help them see how butterflies can be different and the different parts of a butterfly. Please help me provide my children with the butterfly unit that they deserve. They are so excited to get our live caterpillars and I want to be able to provide them with books to look at while waiting for our beautiful butterflies to emerge!
