My students need a flute for our school band. We are starting from scratch in a new school and need to add to our flute section. It would be a trill (thrill) to add this!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students: "Can we play Peter and the Wolf?"
Me: "Not without a FLUTE!"
Our school is a re-purposed elementary school that has been closed for 6 years.
We are starting with 4 walls and a lot of enthusiasm. West Broadway's mission is to be a strong community school and our community wants a great school band. So far we have students with experience and talent, but not enough instruments to keep up with the talent. Several of our students have previous experience on the flute but do not own or can't afford to rent an instrument. We are reaching multiple avenues for assistance and hope to get a band up and running immediately. We lack instruments but we have an abundance of energy, talent, and desire.
My Project
This instrument will be used by students in our school band. As a 5-8 grade school, students will have multiple years to participate in band and hone their talents. Once our program is moving at full force we will provide concerts for the public as well as "informances," opportunities to share learning experiences with the school, parents, and community.
One of the most rewarding moments as a music teacher is when you place an instrument in a student's hands and you watch their face light up the first time they make a sound.
