This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach middle and high school band in a high-needs community. The school district is very small and in an urban setting. Our students all receive free lunch and breakfast. Even though the school and community have financial difficulties, my students come to school eager and ready to learn. The financial hardships do not interfere with their desire to learn and be the best they can be.
I am very fortunate to teach in a district where the students want to excel and work very hard.
My Project
We are 8 days into the school year and my beginning band classes are bursting! I have so many new aspiring musicians that cannot wait to start learning an instrument. My students have been introduced to all the instruments and have made their selections.
I have an aspiring flutist that needs a flute in playable condition.
I have a flute in my school inventory that needs a thorough cleaning and needs to be re-padded. This will make the flute playable for my young musician. Unfortunately, I do not have the funds to make this flute playable. Your donations will make it possible for my student to begin her musical journey.
