Fluent Readers are Happy Readers

My students need 2 sets of Reader's Theatre Scripts, 2 sets of partner reading books, and 2 sets of Fluency Teaching charts to assist them in meeting their goal.

Students that can read fluently are the successful leaders of tomorrow. Our school is working hard to have all students reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade. I am the Learning Specialist for a wonderful school in South Carolina. I work with ALL students in grades k-3. However, my primary responsibility is to provide assistance to the students in those grades who are not successful readers.

Students who are successful readers are those students who can smoothly and easily read material and understand what they have just read. To become a fluent reader takes lots of practice. Our school is struggling with having the ability to provide enough materials that are challenging our students to put into practice what they have learned about reading.

One of the resources that I am asking for is a set of materials called "Reader's Theater". How exciting would it be to be a 1st grader who is acting out a play that they just learned how to read... talk about real world experiences! The other materials that I have asked for provide directed instruction for the students when they are in small groups. These materials will allow the teacher and the student to be focused on one aspect of reading for each lesson. It provides a structure and consistency that many struggling children need.

"Children are our future", "It takes a village to raise a child"... these are all sayings that we hear all the time.. however, these are so very true! Your commitment to the success of our children will help them to become the lifelong learners that we want all of our students to become. Thank you for supporting what we do.
