Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We have been working on building the foundational skills for reading success. One area that we need to work on is our fluency. Students who practice reading in chunks or phrases are better equipped to read fluently. The materials in this project will support this skill practice. I requested bins and an organizer to create practice kits for students where they can read chunks of words in small groups. I added timers to the project so students can check their time after reading fluency passages. This project also includes clear sleeves and highlighters so students can search for the sound-spelling they are working on within their lessons.

Both of these skills enable readers to be more accurate and smooth when they are reading out loud.

Kids can practice reading with peers and it will transition to their independent reading abilities. Thank you for your consideration in donating to our project!
