I am the arts and crafts club teacher at my school for twenty-two students. My students are creative, clever, and very spontaneous. My focus from the minute they walk in the door of my classroom is on their potential and growth while they are with me. I love that I can control their experience during the school day in a positive manner.
By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
They come in every day excited to learn and to see what fun activities we are going to do together. In a Title I, public school with a high number of students from low- to mid-income families, my job as a third grade teacher can be challenging!
My Project
My students need flower seeds to do a science experiment. They will plant the seeds and learn all about the life cycle of the plant as they grow. We will trim the plants as they grow with the scissors we are requesting. My students also need a new stapler because their old one bit the dust. They also need a new tape dispenser because their old one is so dull it doesn't rip the tape any longer. Both of these items will help my students keep their classwork neat and organized.
During all subjects we often average our grades at the end of a test to see if our scores are better than the past test scores.
A calculator would be mighty handy for this task. We set goals and try to meet them weekly. My students read from my classroom library daily. We need new baskets and Ziplocs to keep the books organized.
