I have a group of 25 second graders who live in New Mexico. Our classroom is bright with many smiling faces. Every student in our classroom receives free or reduced breakfast. No matter students' life situations, students find a safe, nurturing, and loving environment in our classroom. It is also a place where I try to provide my students with many opportunities to learn creatively, courageously, and collaboratively.
My second graders are fast-moving learners with an appetite to grow and learn.
My second graders love to move around the room and find places to do their work. They are motivated by exciting activities and new books. They also love any opportunity to talk to each other.
My Project
In our reading rotations, we have a surprisingly beloved activity: Reader's Theater. Reader's Theaters are books transformed into a play script. Each student is assigned a role and each student has different times to read. I've never had a group that loves to read together as much as this group does. Each student grabs a script and they read the story together. They also record themselves on an ipad reading it together. My kids love opportunities of togetherness. They love being with each other particularly when it involves reading groups.
These floor seats will be a great addition to our reading rotations as students can each grab a chair to move around the room.
I am hoping these floor seats will be used for activities like our reader's theaters where students can gather together on the floor to read. These seats are light weight, easy to adjust, comfortable and durable. They will be a great addition to our room for gathering in small groups and working together.
