Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with a diverse group of third through fifth graders.They are creative, curious children. My students come from English, Spanish, and bilingual speaking households. My students are eager to learn. They love having new materials to use that other classes have not used yet.

My school is a socioeconomic and racially mixed community.

We have a wide variety of families, with many from high poverty backgrounds to those that are very involved in our school. Over 95% of our more than 300 students are eligible for free and reduced lunch. Our population is 83% non-white and speaks 9 languages.

My Project

I have a great array of linguistically diverse students in 3rd through 5th grade. They are all eager to learn and become strong readers. We use the floor to sit on because we prefer that to a table. However, right now we do not have floor chairs to sit on.

My students want support for their backs while we sit on the floor and focus on reading improvement.

The chairs we are requesting work for Kindergarten through adult. They will allow students to be more comfortable and to focus on their work.
