My students are active 7- and 8-year-old second graders who have a love for creativity and love read alouds. My school neighborhood is very diverse with students from all cultures, backgrounds, and socio-economic statuses. Our class has 28 students that include gifted, ESOL, and special education learners.
In our classroom, we use hands-on activities and moving around the classroom to find a work spot that best fits us.
Students enjoy being able to move if needed or stand while working. I like giving them options to make them most successful.
My Project
I have been slowing implementing flexible seating options for my students. Out of pocket can add up and I would like to support my students, so I would like to request two floor seating options.
With the help of these floor seats, my students will be able to find a seating choice that helps them focus.
Having more options would be an awesome addition to our classroom! These chairs will provide more options in our classroom so each student can find a flexible seating option that works best for them! I want my students to be able to work to their best ability, whether that is standing or sitting floor.
Research shows that allowing students to sit in comfortable seating options can greatly increase their focus. With a fulfilled project, my classroom would provide a new flexible seating choice based on their needs. This new option will now allow my students to become more comfortable in their classroom and allow them to find a responsible working space and get the most out of our work times and classroom activities.
