Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 7th and 8th graders at a dual-language school in a large city in Massachusetts. My students have been taught in both English and Spanish since kindergarten. They are very thoughtful and constantly diving into learning while taking on leadership in the classroom.
They love to explore new ideas, cultures, and concepts each and every day.
I am lucky to explore with them through my humanities course. They are a wonderful group of students that see their individual success wrapped up in the success of others in the class. They work together and are extremely compassionate.
My Project
My students need a one year subscription to the Flocabulary website. My students love using the website Flocabulary. "Flocabulary is a learning program for all grades that uses educational hip-hop music to engage students and increase achievement across the curriculum." Last year we used the subscription regularly and students loved it. They particularly love watching "Week in Rap" which reviews weekly current events with a musical beat and serious flow.
Our class would benefit from a continued online subscription to Flocabulary, which is a unique tool that teaches students in an engaging and relatable way.
Students love this site and I love that they are so engaged in current events when they are watching it. Our year subscription is about to expire. If I am able to get another year subscription to this thoughtful and creative site, we will be able to continue to use all the resources available on it. Thank you in advance for your support!
