My Students

At our school, we have a diverse student population. We are a Title I school and many students come from low income families. Many students have experienced childhood trauma, and have difficulty regulating their bodies when things get tough. This history of trauma can impact their ability to learn, but our students can learn better ways to take control again and regulate themselves, to help them be successful adults in the future. Even with the challenges they face, students come to school excited to learn!

My Project

Since March 2020, we have been learning from home and with case counts trending up, not down, we do not anticipate this changing any time soon. The move to distance learning has required that I find new and innovative ways of keeping my students engaged in speech sessions.

Flocabulary offers vocabulary, comprehension, grammar and social skills lessons set to music!

After watching these highly engaging videos, there are activities to do as a group or that can be assigned to individual students via the district distance learning platform. This is a resource that all of my students will benefit from.
