Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing, creative, smart, and most of all full of energy! They come from different backgrounds and have different experiences.
One thing they have in common: they love to wiggle around.
I teach in a collaborative classroom, where I have students that are gifted and talented, bilingual, and children with special needs. My co-teacher and I, we employ parallel teaching, station teaching, and small group instruction and regularly use differentiation. Our activities are carefully planned to support the needs of every child in class.
My kids are unique, special, and enthusiastic learners. If they are able to learn in a comfortable environment, they will excel in school.
My Project
As a first grader, you are constantly learning and experiencing new things. Giving students a choice in a collaborative class of where to sit gives them ownership and responsibility for their learning style. Having choices that are kid and brain friendly increases concentration, attention, posture, learning, fun and pure excitement.
I am moving my awesome classroom to a "flexible seating" classroom, where learning can be comfortable.
Students will be practicing, modeling, asking questions, collaborating with peers, exploring learning, and creating. The flexible seating option will encourage students to get comfortable and choose the best option for their learning and growth. My students will be using balance chairs, wobble chairs, balance balls, and tables to work and learn in a more comfortable environment.
