Hooray! This project is fully funded

I teach 3rd grade in a low-income, high poverty area that also serves many English language learners. As a math, science, and technology school, we are always looking for ways to effectively implement technology to increase motivation and student learning.

Students love technology. It is a part of their world and it motivates and encourages them. Using a Flip Video to improve their reading skills not only excites them about technology, but excites them about reading! There is no better way to hook these kids' attention than through technology. In order to best reach and engage my students during Reading Workshop, I have small "guided reading" groups while the rest of the class works on independent activities, such as reading journals, silent reading, reading games, fluency work, and word work activities.

In order for my students to get the most out of small group instruction with me, the rest of the class needs to be actively engaged in activities of their own. A Flip video recorder and poetry resources would help do just that, creating a literacy center that fun and full of learning opportunities.

My students need a Flip video and poetry resources to excite them about reading and to allow them to improve their reading fluency.
