Help me give my students a better learning experience through the implementation of a flipped classroom, thus integrating Apple iPad technology into our awesome math classroom!
I am the most blessed person that I know, namely due to my incredible, loving students. I have the honor of teaching English Language Learning students. The vast majority of my students are Marshallese. These students have such a beautiful culture and kind mindset that it makes each day so much fun.
My students teach me their culture and language, while I get to teach them mathematics and the English language.
Our classroom is one of my favorite places to be!
My Project
Flipped classrooms have become such a necessary part of math classrooms. While we are dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, our students are currently required to stay at home and do school virtually. While this is not only an educational strain on my students, it is also an emotional strain, due to being away from their friends and teachers. My school is incredibly blessed because of our loving, kind-hearted students, who are often disadvantaged financially. School is an important part of their day and they often need to connect with their teachers.
My project today will help bridge the gap between virtual learning and the necessity to reach the social-emotional needs of my students.
Simply put, kids need to see their teachers. My project would help me connect with my students through the use of the Apple iPad and Apple Pencil. When students see their teachers' face, they are much more apt to complete their assignments and do well at mastering needed skills. Creating lessons ahead of time will help my students have more time to work collaboratively on their math skills. After the pandemic, I would love to continue to have a Flipped classroom.
If this project gets funded, I will be able to connect virtually with my students so much easier. I would love to be able to create interactive lessons with my students and use the iPad as a traveling whiteboard. Having an iPad and Apple Pencil will allow me to create lessons for my students, which will be a lot closer to the lessons that I create while they are physically in school. Although I am currently distanced from my kids, I do not want their education to suffer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
