Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Let's put an end to boring and dull assignments. Flip video cameras would allow my students to produce creative and innovative classroom activities. They would also help my students become more technologically savvy! An important aspect of today's world!
I am a self-contained, multiple-subject, fifth grade teacher at a designated Title 1, low-income elementary school with a free and reduced lunch program.
The student population is minority-based with a high concentration of English Language Learners. My students come to me at least 1 - 3 years below grade level. I have 33 wonderful students that thrive on hands-on activities. The more interactive the students can be, the more excited they are to learn.
My Project
Flip video cameras would enhance many different aspects of my students' learning. My students will be able to use the flip video cameras to document science experiments, math activities, field trips, and school activities. They will be used to record plays, oral presentations and to create commercials and PSA's. The majority of my students do not have access to the technology that seems to be so prevalent in today's society. Having access to this technology and incorporating it into our lessons and activities will enrich my students' learning experiences. It may also spark a new interest and passion that could give them the encouragement they need to succeed in life.
By having access to flip video cameras, my students will be able to begin integrating technology into their world more and more as they grow as learners and leaders.
Ultimately, I would like my students to have the resources to create a video yearbook of all of their activities and accomplishments that they can look back on through the years to come.
