Flip this Class! Video Technology for History Education
Help me give my students the opportunity to learn how to use video technology with a green screen and lighting kit as well as a teleprompter.
This project expired on February 9, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are from mostly lower income, foster, and homeless families. There is a strong gang presence in their community and many of them exhibit the signs of trauma and hopelessness from witnessing and being victims of violence and abuse. The majority of my students do not see themselves as headed to college despite the strong emphasis in our school culture. This is due to the fact that they come from generations of working poor with little or no role models to inspire them.
The green-screen and lighting kit I am requesting will be used for students' productions of multi-media projects that will highlight and put them into the world of video production by using chroma-key technology in which a performance is super-imposed over a chosen digital image to simulate actually being in a location. Students will be researching and writing scripts that will be projected using a teleprompter for professional quality "news" reports on events in history.
Students will not only learn about history, but also, how to produce videos in the form of news magazines, interviews and current events.
These skills will help them be competitive in today's media and technology driven world.
