Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school saying is, "Better today than yesterday! Better tomorrow than today!" I want to make their tomorrow better!
My class consists of a diverse group of learners.
My class has 26 second-grade students of varying abilities. The socio-economic background of our students is reflected by our 97% free or reduced-price lunch rate. Several of my students have ADHD and learning disabilities. I work together with the Special Ed Resource Teacher, OT, and Speech Teacher to meet their needs in the classroom.
I teach in an urban inner-city school, rich with diversity. Most of my students need additional learning materials to meet grade level expectations. Please help me to make tomorrow better for them!
My Project
My second graders are energetic learners. They are excited to learn about the world around them.
A lot of my students are visual learners.
They would benefit from having Flip Charts for Math, Science, and Reading instruction.
Having these flip charts to refer to for instruction will help my ADHD learners focus on visuals while I am teaching about telling time, counting money, and number sense during math instruction. Having the Science Flip Chart for Solids, Liquids, and Gases will allow my learners to see the science topics I am teaching and have a flip chart to go back to for reference.
Flip charts are large charts that illustrate a topic for students to focus on while the teacher is instructing them. Students with ADHD need something to focus on while the teacher is teaching them about concepts so they can use their visual ability to also engage and in turn learn the material.
All of my students will benefit from these flip charts to learn our core Science, Math, and Reading concepts in the classroom.
