Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a low-income 3rd-grade classroom. My students are energetic, creative, and ambitious learners. They are very goal-oriented and love to see how much they grow throughout the year. My students come from diverse backgrounds, which means they all have different needs. As a teacher of a low income/high poverty school district, these students face challenges on a daily basis which only makes them stronger and more determined to reach their goals.
My students are the future and deserve the world and more!
I have seen these students overcome so much and through it all, they always have a smile on their face. I cannot wait to have them in my 3rd-grade class this school year and achieve our goals together!
My Project
My students are diverse learners who all require different needs in order to succeed. Through the funding of this project, my students will enter an engaging and welcoming classroom that is tailored to their specific needs.
Flexible seating is critical to enhancing learning across all ages!
Flexible seating gives students the power of choice and allows them to control their environment. This type of seating allows students to analyze their own needs and pick where to work and with whom. Flexible seating also helps their physical health which has been proven to be linked to higher academic performance. By implementing different types of seating that allow my students to wobble, rock, bounce, stand, etc. they are consistently increasing blood flow to their brain which helps them focus more. I have also seen flexible seating help make students more responsible for their learning and more committed to learn! The advantages of flexible seating are endless! I cannot wait for my students to be truly engaged in their learning through flexible seating.
If funded, my students will engage with these seats on a daily basis and we will see their academic performance improve as well. The requested materials will be an amazing contribution to our classroom and its environment and my students and I will be beyond grateful for it as well.
