My students need a variety of flexible seating options, including a DHP Delaney futon, Dorel Living high-top table and stools, and saucer chairs with a coffee table.
My seventh grade classroom is a place where student engagement and value is key. My students are encouraged to ask questions, participate, and by the end of the year, become independent learners and thinkers.
After 5 years of teaching in another state, I have moved back to my home state and am beyond ready to work in my new district.
My school district is a small town, located just south of two major colleges and universities. The middle school has a population of just under 200. My students come from a range of learning abilities and home lives, but are capable of achieving greatness in and out of the classroom.
My Project
By providing a variety of flexible seating options in my classroom, such as a DHP Delaney futon and Dorel Living High-Top table and stools, students have the opportunity to work where they are comfortable in my room.
When students are comfortable in their learning environment, they are able to become more successful.
By incorporating a variety of seating options for my students, my classroom will take on a different feeling. My classroom will become to many a place that is safe and comfortable, where students want to be.
Students have control over what will work for them each day and are able to make those choices on their own. They are able to collaborate in seating arrangements that work for them and it allows them to be productive, while enjoying their time learning.
