The students in my sixth grade class are a wonderful and insightful bunch. Every day they give me many reasons to laugh and smile. Even though our school is a small rural school, these kids are preparing to do BIG things. Our class works hard to establish respect, responsibility, and positive relationships in our classroom.
My students are at a pivotal point in their education where deeper comprehension becomes vital, and middle school is just around the corner.
They are leaning how to be their own best advocate for their education, and they know that asking for help just means that you are trying harder. They are on the border between childhood and adolescence (which brings a good mix of innocence and wit), and it will be exciting to see the adults they become some day. These kids are ready to make an impact on their community!
My Project
In my sixth grade class, I am always looking for a way to challenge my students minds, and they are always looking forward to recess!! I want to give them resources that will help us all be successful.
These materials will help my students keep their bodies active and keep their minds moving.
The sports balls will get lots of use. Many students like playing soccer at recess, and they need a new ball. We also have a couple of basketball hoops that I feel need more attention. I am hoping the Kan Jam game will give some students an alternative to traditional sports while also building trust and confidence in a teammate.
The molecule kit will help reinforce the concepts we learn in our chemistry unit. We also study ecology and ecosystems, and the Planet Earth videos will help my class see many examples from around the world.
I want my students to be active mentally and physically. With your help they will be able to accomplish this.
