Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 3rd grade to a class of 23 students. I have students that range in all levels of academic abilities. But what they all have in common is how hard they work and their desire to learn and to succeed.
My students are creative, driven, and best of all inquisitive learners.
Each day is a new adventure as they want to learn more and dive deeper into their learning. They are engaged with real-life situations that are put in front of them.
My Project
Over the past three years, I have introduced flexible seating options to my students. Flexible seating allows students to choose seating styles that support their academic learning and enhance their productivity.
Flexible seating help students remain comfortable in the classroom which in turn allows students to be calm, focused, and productive.
Flexible seating allows my students the ability to easily move around the classroom and collaborate with one another, preparing them to contribute to their own learning.
Students are given tools to make good choices for what best suits their learning styles and be accountable for their learning at the same time. There is nothing better than to see students huddled together coming up with innovative ideas to share with the rest of their class and flexible seating allows this to happen and encourages it!
