My Students

The majority of my students come from high poverty homes, with multiple siblings. My students love school, many of them do not look forward to the weekends or long breaks away from class. They feel important and empowered in my room and it allows them to grow in their education and become the best student they can be.

The school I teach at has limited funds available for "extra" items in the class.

I want to provide my students with the best options available to make their learning enjoyable and memorable. I believe giving them opportunities for flexible seating is beneficial to their learning abilities.

My Project

My students are busy working each morning during our literacy block for 2+ hours before they go out to recess. Giving them seating options will help them to stay focused and on task. They will be able to use the seats during literacy, math, science, and social studies.

Sitting in traditional chairs for long periods of time leads to burnout, increased wiggles, distractions, and ultimately loss of valuable learning time.

Giving my students options will allow them to move around in a productive manner and stay focused on their work. They will also love the option to pick where they want to sit in class.
