This will be my fifth year teaching third grade and my first year teaching in the public school system. With this new environment, I am in need of funding in order to create a space in which my students feel safe and comfortable.
The students in my classroom come from a variety of academic, social, and economic backgrounds.
They come to school eager to learn and want to feel that sense of belonging. It is my responsibility to create this space for them.
My Project
I am looking to improve my classroom environment to fit the needs of all of my students. I believe adding flexible seating is a huge part of this transformation. I will see a great change in my students just by changing the way they sit.
Studies have shown there to be many benefits to flexible seating such as: increase in physical, higher academic performance, and improved behavior.
With this seating, my students will be able to choose where and how they want to sit while working on classwork. This will also encourage them to make decisions that benefit their learning style the most. The seating needed for this project are things such as wobble cushions, balance balls, etc.
