Flexible Student Centered Seating
My students need active seating in order to make the learning environment more student centered.
Our elementary school is a close-knit community with students from Pre-K to 3rd grade. We are located in a little town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. In my class, there are 22 first graders. My students are very active learners and love to keep moving throughout the day. My class is comprised of a great group of kids with tremendous potential. They learn and grow from one another each day, love coming to school and can't wait to read, write and learn.
I am so excited to tell you all about a new adventure in my classroom! After careful research and much contemplation, I have decided to incorporate flexible seating into my 1st grade classroom.
My hope is to be able to provide students with a seating choice so they will feel comfortable taking control over their learning environment.
While we do take various brain breaks throughout the day, it has been proven that moving, stretching, and walking can actually enhance the learning process. The exercise balls will be mainly utilized during small group reading and math instruction and the wobble seats will be available for student use throughout the day.
