Help me give my students hands on materials for their learning and different ways for them to seat to interact with materials by using the lap desks and stability discs to keep their brains engaged.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
School is a place many of my students come to feel loved and safe. They have an escape from having to be an adult at home or having to face challenges most kids shouldn't have to face. Many of my kids have a huge desire for learning, but lack the tools to help them be successful.
Every child should have the same opportunities to achieve greatness.
They all learn at different paces and in different ways. As a teacher, I desire to give them whatever I can to help them be successful.
My Project
The flexible seats and other materials will give my students a more hands-on approach with their learning. A simple change in material can turn a boring activity into something very engaging. Every child learns differently and it is my goal as their teacher to give them every chance possible to be successful. Being stuck in a desk is hard at such a young age, so by allowing them to move I will be allowing them to motivate themselves to complete a task.
When students struggle to stay focused, they begin to lose interest in their learning, but by giving my students different ways to sit throughout my classroom they can take charge of their learning.
Students will be able to take the lap desk or the stability disc to another area in the room, while working independently, to allow them to focus on the task.
