We are a small school with a diverse population. We have students who come from households with a laptop for everyone in the home, and we have those who don't have access to a laptop or the internet.
My fifth graders are creative, bright, innovative, and technology-driven 21st-century thinkers who love learning new concepts every day.
My students are very enthusiastic about learning, love coming to school, are problem solvers, and always come to school eager to tackle new and challenging projects. My students thrive on creative projects that require higher-level thinking skills and cooperative learning.
Flexible seating has proven to be a great success in my classroom! This fall it would be my goal to be able to offer flexible seating to more of my students than last year. I am hoping to eventually obtain 15 blue flexible floor seats so that I can offer this seating to half of my students on one day and the other half the next. Perhaps I can offer the seats to odd numbered students on Monday, Wednesdays and every other Friday. Then offer the same seats to the even numbered students, Tuesdays, Thursdays and every other Friday to keep it fair. I plan to deliver my lessons first, then allow the students to work independently in comfortable, flexible seats, to improve focus, motivation and academic performance for all of my students.
