My students need the Flex-Space Collaborative Floor Work Space bundle and Balance Ball sets for the opportunity to work in a space that is right for them with a group that is right for them.
I work at a small Title I school in beautiful southwest Virginia where a great number of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our mission is to insure that every student feels safe, loved and cared for. Our tight-knit community has allowed me to do just that -- care for these kiddos and help them succeed!
I have 40 beautiful, unique, and fun 5th grade kiddos to share my life with, and they are constantly teaching me more than I will ever teach them.
My students come to school always excited about the next project we will make and the next science experiment we will conduct. Despite the hardships of living in a low-income rural community, they have grown into supportive, caring kiddos that will storm the world with their thoughts and boasting personalities. I am proud to have the opportunity to help them grow.
My Project
Flexible seating is something I do with my kiddos already, but space and seating type is limited at this time. By fifth grade, students have a strong understanding of what works for them. In allowing for more choice like balance balls, students can choose areas around the room that will help them focus and feel comfortable in our classroom environment.
It has always been my goal to have a classroom that feels more like a home, and flexible seating is one way to continue to work towards this.
With this donation our kiddos will continue to understand that school is a place they feel safe, loved, and cared for. Implementing more choice will continue to help students thrive and will support good classroom behavior and attention. Traditional seating does not always provide what individual kiddos need to succeed. My hope is to change that.
