My Students
My class of energetic first graders walk, skip, and twirl into my classroom every day, excited to learn! They are a very curious and creative group who love reading books, calculating numbers, investigating science and writing stories.
Educators, researchers, and students are discovering the benefits and advantages of cooperative, active, and engaged learning.
Our school is consistently one of the top performing schools in our state and is made up of a wide range of socioeconomic levels, so my goal is to continue my students on this path of excellence as they grow up to become lifelong learners.
My Project
My group of first graders sit at their desks throughout the day but when we move into centers, the students do not have a variety of options on where to sit. Research confirms that physical activity – moving, stretching, and walking – can actually enhance the learning process and the brain learns best and retains most when the organism is actively involved in physical activity.
I am requesting 6 Ergo Ergo seats, which are colorful ergonomic chairs that rock in any direction and provide a fun, active way for kids to sit while strengthening both muscles and the attention span.
