Let me introduce you to my class: a diverse community of learners who think creatively everyday! We are members of a diverse, city PreK-4 public school in Central Virginia. Our community goal is be be kind and see the kindness in others. We love technology, use it every chance we get, and are grateful for everything we have! But, a successful classroom is always changing and growing to meet the needs of the students. We are active and engaged and want our classroom to match our spirit!
My Project
In our classroom, we have a large amount of wiggly learners who benefit from flexible seating options and materials that make flexible and student centered learning more accessible. Right now, our only seating options are chairs and desks, and the students are often itching to sit any place else! I'd like to create other learning spaces that are still safe and productive, and more (and different) seating options will help me achieve that goal. In addition, Most kids are not capable of bringing in their own supplies (like earphones), so I am responsible for providing them. With more materials, I can ensure my students have a better experience.
I look forward to making our classroom more cozy and customizable so that my students can look forward to their learning everyday!
My order list includes four wobble stools and two balance ball stools. This type of seating is proven to be more effective for high energy students. I’ve also included small storage bins that students can use to store supplies in instead of (messy old) desks. We also need earphones for independent and differentiated learning on computers.
