My school is on the south side of Colorado Springs and falls somewhere between being a city and a rural school. Though we are still considered to be in Colorado Springs, there is a cow farm not a half mile from our school. Our families enjoy being a part of a smaller school community where they can get to know their child's teachers, and the teachers love knowing so many of the children in the school. Our students are a true representation of Colorado Springs. We are a multicultural school that spans the spectrum of race, socioeconomic status, and lifestyles. The school is very close to Fort Carson, so many of our students come from military families.
As a teacher, I love this aspect and thrive on the diversity that my students bring to the school.
My Project
These two items will help create a more relaxed and fun learning atmosphere for my students. Florescent lights often give my students and I headaches or strain our eyes, making learning more difficult, and sitting in hard plastic chairs all day can be very uncomfortable.
The light covers will provide a soft filter for the florescent lights, and the seat cushions will give my students a different, more comfortable option for educational seating.
Many of my colleagues already use the light filters and rave about the difference they make, and even though I already have seat cushions in my room, they were such a hit that I want everyone to be able to use one at the same time!
Please consider helping my students be more comfortable while they learn to give them the most conducive learning environment possible!
