Help me give my students five metal seating stacking stools, twelve floor seating cushions, thirty dry erase clipboards, one student lap desk, and twelve dry erase markers.
It's the start of a brand-new school day and I welcome each student by their first name and shake their hands as they enter our classroom. I exclaim, "Good morning class of 2028. It's a great day to be a Roadrunner!"
Our classroom is a safe place for my students to explore, learn, play, and grow.
They are taught that they can grow up and become anything they desire and that education is their key to a better life. As a teacher, I focus on career readiness and discuss their goals of graduating from high school and attending college or trade schools in the near future. My students are passionate about their learning goals and need some TLC emotionally and financially to succeed in school and ultimately in life.
My Project
Flexible seating allows many at risk, ADHD, or students facing similar learning challenges to be more successful in a traditional classroom setting. Students can improve their attitude towards learning and school assignments by being permitted to select where and how they sit in the classroom.
Students can work on floor cushions, stools, and use dry erase clipboards or a student lap desk to complete school work in a flexible and student-oriented setting.
Many students refuse to work or struggle with behavior issues because they cannot sit still and focus while at their desks. These flexible seating options will greatly enhance many students learning experiences in my classroom.
