This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from low socioeconomic households. Many of them rent rooms or apartments with multiple families. All of my students are second language learners. My school serves complimentary breakfast, brunch, and lunch to 100% of our students.
My students are so excited and enthusiastic about coming to school to learn.
They eagerly read books and discuss them with classmates. Writing is done every day, and they love to share out in the author's chair. We need more resources so that students can get to grade level.
My Project
My students have had quite an interesting school experience. From being in 1st grade when the pandemic started, to 2nd grade being all virtual! Coming back to in person has been quite the transition. I am asking for a variety of flexible seating options so students can focus better. The chair balls work well with students, but I only have one in the classroom currently. I am also asking for a class set of fidget bands so everyone can use these while we focus on concentrating on our work. I am asking for sharpies to have during our art time.
