Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the honor of teaching the most intelligent, enthusiastic, and knowledge-thirsty students in the world. I teach first grade at a Title I school with a high Hispanic student population. My class is composed of 100% minority students within my classroom. My school is a low income, high poverty school. The majority or my students come from homes that qualify for free and reduced lunch. I absolutely LOVE teaching at my school.
Each and every day I have 16 eager students enter my classroom, hungry for knowledge!
They come in every morning so excited about all the new things they are going to experience each and every day. Their faces are reflective of excitement that can only come from the joy of being a child! I consider myself so blessed on a daily basis to get the opportunity to watch them grow, learn, and experience daily learning and life. Providing the materials and resources these students require is something that I am passionate about.
My Project
Students who feel safe and comfortable within the classroom, will be able to focus more on learning. Flexible and alternative seating can help enhance learning within the classroom. I feel that our students mental health is most important thing. With covid and higher stress levels, I feel making the classroom a more comfortable learning environment can only help a child's mental health.
Fun flexible seating can help a classroom feel like a home.
I want my students to look forward to coming to school and I feel flexible seating can help students feel welcomed into a fun learning environment. Flexible seating seat sacks will be used for student to be able to rotate around the room to different flexible seating areas while keeping their school materials with them. The floor cushions will allow for students to be able to sit comfortably in different areas around to classroom while still engaging in learning. I am excited to create this fun learning environment for my classroom.
