I have 48 bright-eyed and eager-to-learn students. The students in my class are amazing and motivated learners. They all come from different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. They are so full of energy and their smiles light up the room. They work really hard and have lots of fun while learning.
We love to learn about the world around us, and the students love investigating life science in the garden and in our own Silver Cluster backyard.
They love to work together and to share what they are learning with their friends and families.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, my students can go outside to our outdoor work spaces but some of the students prefer to stay in the class. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating as some students sit on what we call "leaf pillows" and some students enjoy standing. I would like to give my students another option, especially to those who need to move around. The seating that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The balance balls will allow students to sit but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work, who to work with, and how they choose to sit.
