Help me give my students the ability to sit in different areas within our classroom on chairs that are comfortable. This allows them to wiggle and move as needed as well as sit on the floor comfortably.
Our school district serves four communities and their surrounding areas, including a nearby Indian reservation. We are a district of about 1,766 students with approximately 73% white students, 12% Native American, 7% Hispanic, 6% multi-race, 1% Asian. About 33% of our students receive free or reduced-rate lunch, and 10% of our students are special education students.
The town has approximately 7,400 residents of which 90% are white.
The average age of the residents is 40 years old with 26% holding a bachelor's degree or higher.
We offer a comprehensive educational program for kindergarten through 12th grade. The district is fully accredited by the state Department of Education and AdvancED. Our program is fueled by the energy of an active and informed Board of Trustees, an experienced and dedicated staff, and interested and participating parents and community members. Our mission statement and our Strategic Plan goals drive our decision-making process.
We are home to six attendance centers. We have three elementary schools (two in-town, one rural), a middle school, and two high schools.
My Project
My students love the variety of seating we currently have in our classroom. We have a variety of seats, the go-to seating is the wiggle stools so I am asking for two more of these so students can sit on them more frequently to wiggle and move. I am also asking for chairs that recline on the floor so students can sit anywhere in the room and work comfortably. They love working all over the room but struggle to sit on the floor without having a cushion to sit on. Getting these floor seats will allow them to work on the floor with clipboards comfortably when they choose.
