Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school in Nevada. The school is able to offer 100% free breakfast and lunch to all of our students. As a teacher, I noticed that my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I am looking to keep things engaging and provide my students with an exciting, meaningful learning experience.
My kindergarten students are energetic and curious kiddos and are looking forward to a great school year.
Eighty-six percent of my students are second language learners and have never been in school before.
My Project
Because of covid-19, educators all over the world are having to reinvent their classroom learning space. Practicing social distancing in the classroom can be quite the challenge, especially when you work with 5 and 6 year olds.
These carpet squares will allow my students flexible seating at a safe distance.
In the past, during whole group time on the carpet, students sat together on one carpet elbow to elbow. Because it is no longer safe to sit this way, when students return to the classroom they will need visual markers to show them where to sit at a safe distance from each other. These alphabet square will be the perfect addtion to my classroom and will help studets with social distancing during carpet time.
