I teach writing to 120 fifth grade students. Our students ability level varies from below basic to above average. We have more students who fall into the below basic category and very few students into the above average category. No matter what, my students come in ready to do their best every single day. My students have very short desks and prefer to move around and have alternative seating when possible. It is hard for some of them to do their work at their desks. Tables are few and far between. Behavioral problems tend to be at a minimum when students are able to be comfortable. I want my students to enjoy writing class.
My Project
The use of my SMARTBoard is a daily activity in my classroom. Students come to the rug to interact during our lesson. The students love being able to sit in other places besides their desk
What becomes a problem is the fact that the students then start to complain about how it's uncomfortable to crouch when using their Chromebook or writing.
By having Surf Lap Desks students will be able to utilize flexible seating while working on their assignments comfortably.

Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not moving to new positions frequently to ensure comfort.
