My school is one of the most diverse schools in the United States. With OVER 20 different languages represented in our building. Some of my students speak 3 languages and some of my students are still working so hard to learn English. My students are 4th graders that deserve a safe, comfortable, clean, and healthy learning environment. My class and my school is like no other school. I have never seen such a wonderful, challenging, smart, energetic groups of students.
My Project
I am a 4th grade teacher trying to create a space for my students to feel comfortable and ready to learn. I would like to provide my students with more choices for seating other than the traditional desks and chairs. They love to sit on the few chairs I currently have. Students spend all day sitting at desks when desks aren't the ideal learning space for all kids. Some students prefer to stand or walk around, while others prefer to sit closer to the floor. Students are more engaged in their learning when given options of where to work.
The options provided by this project will allow them to pick a seating choice that is best for how they learn and will encourage them to become more enthusiastic learners.
Flexible seating enhances student voice and choice and helps them take ownership of their space. Please help us create this space to develop the love of learning.
