Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
75% of the students at my school are economically disadvantaged. 48% of students are considered ELLs, or English language learners, and 76% speak a language other than English at home.
Students in my classroom have a spirit and enthusiasm for learning and working in groups.
Despite some external challenges, these students show tremendous resilience and passion for learning. Flexible seating with continue to foster this collaborative environment.
My students are most successful when they have control over their environment. Flexible seating allows these students to bounce, twist, lean, and sit to suit their needs.
My Project
Flexible seating helps to increase student engagement, attention, and thus student achievement. Flexible seating helps to reach many social emotional needs of students and creates a strong class climate. These students deserve to work in a place where they feel comfortable.
Flexible seating will build a sense of classroom community and ownership for classes of students for years to come.
Students will share seats and spaces which encourages turn taking and relationship building.
Students learn best when they have a sense of control over their environment. Flexible seating in my classroom will allow for students to choose which seat and area they would like to work in. Currently, my classroom holds some chairs that are too small and uncomfortable for them to sit in.
My students are excited about flexible seating and deserve the best classroom environment possible! Please help me make this dream come true for these students.
