Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is made up of 5th and 6th graders with a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds and abilities! I am lucky enough to be working with students in a general education reading classroom.
Even though my students are hard-working, they don't always have access to the resources needed to help them to reach their potential.
The students in my room come from different backgrounds, and every student learns at a different learning style. Some students need the support of others while the other students take what you have given them and run with it.
My Project
Students will have the choice of how they sit in my classroom. They will have the option to stand, sit in a normal chair, sit on the floor, or be able to sit on a yoga ball.
Others teachers in our building are doing this, and I thought it would help the students in my room.
All of these options will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably and move around while they are learning. A rectangular table that is low to the floor will be used with the wobble cushions or students can kneel at the table if they'd rather. The pub table will provide another option for students who like to stand or students who want to sit on a stool to learn.
This project would significantly help my students stay engaged in our learning throughout the day. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom. I cannot wait to see all of the things we can do with flexible seating!
